Mark Munoz Talks Chris Leben
Here is Mark Munoz talking about his upcoming fight with Chris Leben. The video was taken by friend of MMA Blaster, Marcos Villegas of Fight Hub TV.
Munoz explains that his stand-up has improved and he is comfortable standing, but he is ready to take the fight wherever it goes. Munoz knows not to stand right infront of Leben, as many fighters get lured into doing.
I expect Munoz to work his hands to set-up takedowns. Munoz' ground and pound is some of the best in the business, and I think he will be able to utilize it.

UFC 131 Post Fight Conference
Here is the UFC post fight conference. With a solid night of fights, Junior Dos Santos secured his title shot battering Shane Carwin for three rounds.
Kenny Florian made a successful debut at 145 winning against Diego Nunes. Kenny explains that he felt great making the transition to 145 and his cardio wasn't an issue, indicating that he was able to outlast Nunes. Dana White said it is, "more than likely" that Florian will fight Aldo for the featherweight title.
Mark Munoz indicated that he belongs in the upper echelon of the 185 division. Mark fought a close bout with Demian Maia, winning a decision. Mark has definitely earned a high profile bout in his next fight, maybe with recent winner Brian Stann.

Mark Munoz Ready For Aaron Simpson

Mark has been running his own gym in Orange County, California. The NCAA champion wrestler has been training with some elite competition lately, including the Nogueira brothers, Anderson Silva, Tito Ortiz, King Mo and plenty others.

UFC on Versus 2 Preview
Jon "Bones" Jones is poised to let his star shine even brighter this Sunday night on UFC on Versus 2. The electric fighter will look to build on his KO win over Brandon Vera with a statement win over grizzled MMA veteran Vladimir Matyushenko. The fireworks will be broadcast live on Versus and take place in San Diego, California.
Jon Jones 10-1DQ) burst into the UFC was his lightening fast stand-up, superb wrestling skills and improving submission game. The 6'4" Jones debuted at UFC 87 with a decision over Andre Gusmao, then took a decision win over Stephen Bonnar, guillotine of Jake O'Brien, then faced Matt Hamill at the Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale and was DQ'd due to illegal elbows. Look for Jones to use his quickness to pick apart Vladdy standing.

Vladimir Matyushenko (24-4) has over 13 years of MMA training and fights under his belts, defeating the likes of Yuki Kondo, Pedro Rizzo and Travis Wiuff in his first run in the UFC,leaving in 2003. The international freestyle wrester went on the win the IFL 205 pound grand prix and title defeating the likes of Jamal Patterson, Tim Boetsch and Alex Schoenauer. Since returning to the UFC, he has defeated Igor Pokrajac and Eliot Marshall. Look for Vladdy to go for takedowns to acquire top position.

Mark has an improving stand-up game with excellent wrestling. Munoz won two fights in the WEC before getting KO'd by Matt Hamill at UFC 96. He has since ran off 3 straight wins over Nick Catone, Ryan Jensen and Kendall Grove.

Gomi was unsuccessful in his UFC debut against Kenny Florian, getting out-grappled and out-struck, losing in the third round via rear naked choke. Griffin meanwhile also looks to rebound from a close decision loss against uber prospect Evan Dunham.
Look for Gomi (31-6) to keep the fight in mid-range and work inside Griffin's solid leg kicks. Gomi was a dominant force in the lightweight division of Pride during his prime, defeating the likes of Mitsuhiro Ishida, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Hayato Sakurai with solid boxing and wrestling skills.

UFC 112 Preview
UFC 112 will be the UFC's first venture into the middle east, with Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emerites (UAE) hosting the event. The festivities will play out at the Concert Arena at the Ferrari World theme park on Yas Island. This will be the first UFC event at an outdoor arena.
The evening will feature two title fights for the first time since UFC 100. Unlike UFC 100, the current title holders, Anderson Silva and BJ Penn are heavy favorites coming in. Currently, Anderson Silva and BJ Penn are -1100 and -850 favorites on Bodog.
Current line-up:
Anderson Silva vs. Demian Maia- This 185 pound five round tussle is a classic grappler against striker match-up. Anderson Silva has cemented his legend in the MMA world with ridiculous knockouts during his 10-0 UFC run. Maia comes from a BJJ background, having won the 2007 Abu Dhabi Combat Championship in the 87 KG bracket.
Anderson Silva is undoubtably the top striker currently in mixed martial arts. Silva busted into the UFC steamrolling Chris Leban in 49 seconds. He then destroyed Rich Franklin with knees to take the title which he has yet to relinquish. His path of destruction has seen him roll through Travis Lutter, Dan Henderson, Nate Marquardt, James Irvin and Forrest Griffin.

Demian Maia, a second degree black belt in BJJ, bust onto the UFC scene with 3 consecutive submission of the night performances. He owns victories over Jason MacDonald, Dan Miller, Nate Quarry and Chael Sonnen. It will be critical for Maia to find a way to takedown Anderson Silva to look for a submission.

B.J. Penn vs. Frankie Edgar- In this lightweight tilt, champion BJ Penn will look to defend his title for the fourth straight time. Penn, who is also a world jiu-jitsu champ, has flashed an ever improving boxing and wrestling game during his recent victories over Kenny Florian, Diego Sanchez, Sean Sherk and Joe Stevenson. Look for BJ to pepper Edgar from the outside and counter punching to loosen up Edgar before getting top position, looking for a submission.

Frankie Edgar, a former collegiate wrestler, has displayed a well-rounded blend of kickboxing and wrestling game during his 6-1 stretch in the UFC. In his last three bouts, Edgar has shown no chinks in his armor, winning over Matt Veach, Sean Sherk and Hermes Franca. Look for Edgar to test the waters with his boxing before trying to get the fight to the floor to utilize ground and pound.
Matt Hughes vs. Renzo Gracie- This fight will pit two MMA legends against eachother. Hughes is a sure-fire UFC hall of famer with exceptional wrestling. He previously defeated Renzo's cousin, Royce Gracie, at UFC 60. Renzo will look to use his black belt submission skills in this bout. Expect either a Hughes decision or Renzo submission in this bout.

UFC 96 Preview
UFC 96 takes place this Saturday in Columbus, Ohio. The fights will be available on ppv. Here is the current line-up.
MAIN CARD
Quinton Jackson vs. Keith Jardine- The main event could be a quick one or a long battle. Both fighters have produced dramatic results in the UFC. Jardine (14-4, 6-3 UFC) has knocked out former champ Forrest Griffin and won split decisions over Chuck Liddell and Brandon Vera. Jardine, a veteran of TUF 2, has an unorthodox stance and throws very good leg kicks.
Rampage Jackson (29-7, 4-1 UFC), the former champ, is almost guaranteed a title fight against Rashad Evans if he wins. Rampage won the belt with a knockout victory over Chuck Liddell and defended with a decision victory over Dan Henderson. With a long lay-off Jackson lost a razor thin decision to Forrest Griffin before recently defeating Wanderlei Silva in brutal fashion. Expect Rampage to throw big bombs from his feet. If a KO doesn't happen, I expect Rampage to look for a takedown.

Matt Hamill vs. Mark Munoz- This will be a battle of two former top notch wrestlers. Hamill is a 3 time Division III national champion. Munoz is a 2 time All-American, winning the Division I title in 2001. Hamill was a stand-out in TUF 3, where he beat veteran fighter Mike Nickels. Hamill (5-2, 5-2 UFC) has the UFC experience factor, getting TKO's against tough opponents in Tim Boetsch, Reese Andy and Seth Petruzelli. His loss to Michael Bisping was perhaps one of the worst decisions in the sport.

Mark Munoz (5-0, 0-0 UFC) won twice in the WEC before they folded the 205 division. Munoz looks for the takedown early and often, and if he gets it has a good ground and pound game. With Munoz stating he will test his wrestling against Hamill, this will make for a quality fight. Both are extremely strong.

Shane Carwin vs. Gabriel Gonzaga- This match will prove whether or not Shane Carwin belongs in the heavyweight elite. Carwin (10-0, 2-0 UFC) is an absolute beast, standing 6'4" with 265 pounds of pure muscle. Carwin won the Division II national championship in 1999, and was a runner-up in 1998 and 1997. He knocked Christian Wellish out cold in his UFC debut and Neil Wain in his second fight. No fighter has lasted more than 3 minutes with Carwin.

Gabriel Gonzaga is no slouch himself, with his young career capped with a devastating head kick KO of uber striker Mirko Cro Cop. Gonzaga (10-3, 6-2 UFC) is a BJJ blackbelt with 6 submissions on his resume. He dropped a tough loss to Randy Couture in his shot at the heavyweight title, and lost to Fabricio Werdum via TKO in his next match. He has since rebounded with a KO of Josh Hendricks and kimura over Justin McCully.

Matt Brown vs. Pete Sell- Matt Brown (8-7, 2-1 UFC) will look to stand and trade as brawling is his forte. With a solid BJJ background Sell (8-4, 2-4 UFC) is best when looking to utilize his submission game. Sell gets in trouble when he stands and swings for the fences, which would play into Brown's game.
Gray Maynard vs. Jim Miller- Maynard (6-0, 4-0 UFC) has been climbing the 155 pound ranks with solid wrestling and ground and pound. Then knock on Maynard has been a lack of excitement in his fights, he may try to push the pace here. Miller (13-1, 2-0 UFC) won over Matt Wiman in his last fight on a weeks notice. He will have more time to prepare for this one, but the fight will boil down to whether Miller can pull a submission off his back.

He will have more time to prepare for this one, but the fight will boil down to whether Miller can pull a submission off his back.

WEC 34 Results
WEC 34 did not disappoint as it was clearly a better event than Elite XC on CBS. The title fights of Faber v. Pulver and Torres v. Maeda lived up to expectations and were exciting fights.
Urijah Faber def. Jens Pulver via unanimous decision- Faber and Pulver boxed and threw vicious combinations throughout the fast paced fight. For a five round decision, it really didn't get slow. Pulver absorbed most of the damage eating punches standing and eventually on the ground. Both Faber and Pulver had gas in their tanks for the duration of the bout, and left it all on the line. Faber took the decision (50-44 twice and 50-45).

Miguel Torres def. Yoshiro Maeda via TKO, R3, 5:00- Torres and Maeda put on quite a show for the crowd as well. Both stood and traded punches and kicks. Torres was split open on one of the first punches thrown by Maeda in the first round. The mullet wearing Torres didn't let the blood get him down. When Torres was taken down, he immediately looked for submissions and battered Maeda, who did nothing from top position. An interesting sequence that hasn't been talked about was the toe hold Maeda got. Immediately, Torres started striking Maeda from his opposite leg, and then got his own toe-hold on Maeda. A double toe-hold so to speak. At the end of the third, Maeda had taken too much punishment to his left eye, which was swollen shut and Herb Dean stopped the fight. A good stoppage at the end of the round, and Torres defends the belt.
Mark Munoz def. Chuck Grigsby via TKO (strikes)- R1, 4:15- Grigsby came out throwing his jab attempting to use his significant reach advantage. After Grigsby connected on an uppercut, Munoz decided to get the fight to the ground. After stuffing one takedown, Munoz kept at it, eventually getting the fight to the floor. With Grigsby on his back, Munoz was able to throw a leg and land a punches forcing a referee stoppage win for Munoz.
Rob McCullough def. Kenneth Alexander via split decision- This fight was basically three rounds of circling and attempted takedowns. Not much damage was done by either fighter and could have been called a draw.
Donald Cerrone def. Danny Castillo via submission (armbar)- R1, 0:30- Despite his Muay Thai background, Cerrone has really started to use his submission game to perfection. He was successful again, sinking in a nasty armbar from a triangle to seal the win. It was unclear whether Castillo had tapped at first, and it was later revealed that the submission was verbal.
