Krazy Horse v. Nightrider

Here is Charles "Krazy Horse" Bennett fighting Drew "Night Rider" Fickett at Shine Fights 3 which took place on 9/10/10 in Newkirk, Oklahoma.

Krazy Horse (27-28) is an entertainer first and foremost, owning KO's in his career over KJ Noons, Yoshiro Maeda and Shad Smith. Whether he wins, loses or gets choked unconscious he is always entertaining. He's had his share of issues outside the ring. Bennett returned to the cage last weekend after a 3 year absense KO'ing Danny Black in less than 2 minutes.


Drew Fickett (42-21) was a very talented submission specialist during his time as a fighter. He has career submissions of Josh Koscheck, Dennis Bermudez, Matt Veach, Josh Neer and Carlo Prater. Fickett has had well documented substance abuse problems outside the cage. He went 1-8 to possibly close out his career in 2014.

Here is Drew Fickett fighting Matt Veach at MFC 28 which took place on 2/28/11 in Alberta, Canada.

Fickett (41-16) has had an interesting career, notching high level wins over Josh Koscheck, Dennis Hallman, Kenny Florian, Kurt Pellegrino, Josh Neer and Dennis Bermudez. His life outside the cage has been interesting, as he has battled problems with alcohol.

Fickett will fight former WEC champ Jamie Varner at XFC 16 tonight, which airs live on HDNet.

Kawajiri (28-7) will drop to 145 for his next bout, which is against Joachim "Hellboy" Hansen at Dream 17.

Ricco Wins at Silver Crown Fights

Former UFC fighters Ricco Rodriguez and Drew Fickett both were victorious at Silver Crown Fights in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Former UFC Heavyweight Champ Ricco Rodriguez has three straight wins in 2008 since his narrow decision loss to Travis Wiuff in Yamma.

The bouts took place on August 8th and highlights were featured on Inside MMA. Here are the results:

Strikeforce/Elite XC Results

For anyone who hasn't seen the Cung Le v. Frank Shamrock fight, check it out. The fight was three rounds of pretty much non-stop action. Frank kept to his word and preferred to stay on his feet. He attempted a takedown only one time, and the announcers seemed to lead on that it had something to do with his ACL. While standing, Cung got the most of Frank with his assortment of kicks, punches, spinning backfists, and a couple leg catches. The leg catches were very impressive, as Cung caught the leg and blasted Frank's grounded ankle with a sweep (reminiscent of San Shou).

Frank was able to land a couple kicks on Cung, and was able to close the distance in the third round. When in close, Frank did some damage with punches. It was only temporary as Cung was able to break away. However, Cung's kicks proved too much for Frank, as he broke his ulna(forearm) while defending a kick, and after the third round he could not continue. Cung Le is the new MW Strikeforce Champ. I'd like to see him square off against Robbie Lawler or a cross promotion with HDNet to get a fight with Mayhem Miller.

Frank Shamrock v. Cung Le Set For March 29th

It appears that the MMA Legend Frank Shamrock (23-8) will face the exciting Cung Le (5-0) for the Strikeforce World Middleweight Title. The mixed martial arts bout is set for March 29th in San Jose, California. This card looks to be very good, check out the other bouts.

Jake Shields (20-4)(#7 WW) v. Drew Fickett (31-5)- WW Title- Fickett (4-2 UFC) will be a tough test for Shields. If Shields wins, I wouldn't be surprised if he moved up to 185 to take on the winner of Shamrock v. Le.

**Joe Riggs (27-9) v. Joey Villasenor (24-6)- Riggs was on the receiving end of a massive hip toss applied by Cory Devela at last weekends Strikeforce event and there is no way he will be competing. Riggs ended up in the hospital and I hope he is doing ok. It will be interesting to see who they get as a replacement. Why not Jorge Santiago?

Also rumored to be fighting on the card are Jorge Santiago (16-7) (Strikeforce MW tourney champ), Gina Carano (5-0) and Paul Buentello (23-10).

Gilbert Melendez (13-1) was initially rumored to be on the card, then removed. There have been some rumblings that Buentello will take on Kimbo Slice (2-0). If so, it would be Kimbo's biggest test to date and he would have just over a month to prepare. We would learn how Kimbo defends kicks if that match were a go.



*Jake Shields throwing a kick against Yushin Okami in the Rumble on the Rock Tournament that took place 4/21/06. After beating Okami, Shields won a decision against WEC WW champ Carlos Condit. Shields is currently on a 9 fight win streak.

The results went squeaky clean for HDNet Fights. They were banking on being able to stage a Trigg v. Miller showdown, and lucky for them both won. Also, ex-UFC fighters Edwards and Spratt won, as well as IFL vet Sosynski. Sosynski was a ripped heavyweight in the IFL and apparently went to 205 for this fight. I'm still trying to track down most of the fights on the internet. Unfortunately, like many out there I don't have HDNet, but my girlfriend and her roommates have it. I covertly set a recording for it, but to my disappointment, it was deleted.
