This fight between Shogun Rua and Rafael "Capoeira" Freitas took place at Meca World Vale Tudo 7 on November 8, 2002 in Curitiba, Brazil.

It is listed on most MMA databases as Shogun Rua's first pro fight. As you can see, it is not the best referee in the business. Soccer kicks were legal in this Vale Tudo rule-set.

Shogun rose to prominence by rattling off vicious KO's in the Pride organization defeating Akihiro Gono, Rampage Jackson, Alistair Overeem, Lil' Nog and Ricardo Arona.
